No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Halcones Rojos (6-6) crushed bottom-ranked Panteras (2-8) in Veracruz 95-74 on Sunday. Halcones Rojos made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The winners were led by forward Jose Gutierrez (197-88) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and American forward Omar Thomas (196-82, college: UTEP) supported him with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Five Halcones Rojos players scored in double figures. Even 16 points by the former international Oscar Alejandro Perez Zarco (205-85) did not help to save the game for Panteras. International point guard Adrian Jesus Villalobos (183) added 11 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Halcones Rojos maintains fifth position with 6-6 record. Panteras lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with eight games lost. Halcones Rojos will meet Jefes (#7) in the next round. Panteras will play against Correcaminos (#6) and hope to secure a win.
