Regular Season Round 8: Gornik Walbrzych - AZS PP 76-57

No shocking result in a game in Walbrzych where second ranked Gornik (7-1) smashed 8th ranked AZS PP (3-5) 76-57 on Sunday. Gornik dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to AZS PP's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Marcin Wrobel (200-87) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Power forward Pawel Bochenkiewicz (199-89) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Gornik players scored in double figures. Albert Krawiec (188-94) produced 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Michal Wielechowski (198-94) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gornik have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group D with 7-1 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Gimbasket PRZM. Loser AZS PP keeps the eighth place with five games lost. Gornik will face Sudety (#6) in Jelenia Gora in the next round. AZS PP will play at home against Gniezno and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the 1Liga just one year after relegation.
