Regular Season Round 8: Guangsha L. - Qingdao E. 130-124

There was no surprise in Hangzhou where 16th ranked Qingdao Eagles (2-6) were defeated by sixth ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (6-2) 130-124 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 40-31. But Qingdao Eagles won third quarter 42-34. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions outrebounded Qingdao Eagles 48-34 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Qingdao Eagles were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Elijah Holman (208-89, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and point guard Jeremy Pargo (188-86, college: Gonzaga, agency: Priority Sports) who added 27 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions' coach ChunJiang Li used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) responded with 48 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 7 assists and center Alan Williams (203-93, college: UCSB) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions moved-up to third place, which they share with Guangdong ST and Liaoning H. Loser Qingdao Eagles keep the sixteenth position with six games lost. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will face North Control (#9) in Beijing in the next round where they are favorite. Qingdao Eagles will play on the road against Jiangsu TX (#10) and hope to win that game.
