Important game to mention about took place in Azpeitia. Sixth ranked Sammic ISB (5-3) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 9th ranked Zornotza (3-5) 76-74 on Sunday evening. Zornotza was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 22-17 charge of Sammic ISB, which allowed them to win the game. Sammic ISB outrebounded Zornotza 39-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. Zornotza was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Croatian center Aleksandar Marcius (209-90, college: De Paul) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds. French-American forward Jordan Semple (201-92, college: Chico St.) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Sammic ISB's coach Iker Bueno allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. point guard Iker Salazar (192-93) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Congolese forward Charles Nkaloulou (199-94) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Four Sammic ISB and five Zornotza players scored in double figures. Sammic ISB moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Granada and Marin. Loser Zornotza dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Sammic ISB will face Clinicas Rincon (#11) in Malaga in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zornotza will play at home against CB Tarragona 2017 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
