Regular Season Round 8: Maccabi Ashdod - Maccabi K/G 90-89
Date: November 23, 2015
A very interesting game took place in Ashdod. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 11th ranked Maccabi K/G (2-6) to fifth ranked Maccabi Ashdod (5-3) 90-89 on Monday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Maccabi K/G was ahead by 7 points after three quarters before a 27-19 charge of Maccabi Ashdod, which allowed them to win the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The game was also dominated by American players. The winners were led by power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) who scored that evening 26 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) supported him with 18 points and 7 assists. Even 16 points and 4 assists by point guard Paul Delaney (188-86, college: UAB, agency: Three Eye Sports) did not help to save the game for Maccabi K/G. Swingman Alando Tucker (198-84, college: Wisconsin) added 16 points for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi K/G's coach Natan Cohen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Maccabi Ashdod have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ironi Nahariya. Maccabi K/G lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. Maccabi Ashdod's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Maccabi Rishon in Rishon Le-Zion and it may be the game of the week. Maccabi K/G will play at home against Bnei Hasharon (#7) and hope to win that game.
