Regular Season Round 8: Petrochimi - Azad 75-65
Date: November 23, 2015
An interesting game for Petrochimi (6-2) which hosted in Bandar Imam second-ranked Azad (5-3). Third ranked Petrochimi managed to get a 10-point victory 75-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Azad. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The winners were led by international Behnam Yakhchali (197-95) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and the former international Arman Zangeneh (202-93) supported him with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Five Petrochimi players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 8 rebounds by the former international M. Reza Akbari (196-86) did not help to save the game for Azad. American Tony Weeden (183-83, college: Chicago St., agency: Three Eye Sports) added 18 points for the guests. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Petrochimi have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Naft Abadan and Chemidor. Loser Azad dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Gorgan. Petrochimi will meet Army (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Azad will play against Arak (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
