Regular Season Round 9: Jiangsu TX - Qingdao E. 127-117

There was no surprise when 17th ranked Qingdao Eagles (2-7) were defeated on the road by tenth ranked Jiangsu TX (5-4) 127-117. The game was mostly controlled by Jiangsu TX. Qingdao Eagles was better in second period 27-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jiangsu TX made 23-of-28 charity shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Jiangsu TX outrebounded Qingdao Eagles 41-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. 33 personal fouls committed by Qingdao Eagles helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) nailed 39 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) accounted for 27 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) came up with a triple-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 10 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the other American import center Alan Williams (203-93, college: UCSB) added 18 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Qingdao Eagles in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Qingdao Eagles' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Jiangsu TX. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Qingdao Eagles lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventeenth position with seven games lost. Jiangsu TX's next round opponent will be higher ranked DongGuan Leopards (#7) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Qingdao Eagles will play against Shanxi Zhongyu (#14) and hope to win that game.
