Very important is a home loss of third ranked Brasilia (3-3) against fourteenth ranked Vivo/Franca (4-2) on Wednesday night. Host Brasilia was defeated by Vivo/Franca in Brasilia 106-94. The game was mostly controlled by Vivo/Franca. Brasilia managed to win fourth quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vivo/Franca forced 25 Brasilia turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Bruno Irigoyen (196-92) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 6 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Isaac Goncalves (196-90) accounted for 22 points for the winning side. Vivo/Franca's coach Aluisio Xavier Ferreira used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Jefferson Campos (191-91) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for Brasilia in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Vivo/Franca have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Flamengo and Mogi. Brasilia lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Vivo/Franca will meet bottom-ranked Rio Claro (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Brasilia will play against Mogi (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
