Regular Season Round 9: Army - Petrochimi 52-77

9th ranked Army (1-8) was outscored at home by second ranked Petrochimi (7-2) with the biggest margin this round 77-52. The game without a history. Petrochimi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Army's 20. Army was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Dominican point guard Edgar Sosa (190-88, college: Louisville, agency: Duran International) nailed 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and international swingman Saeed Davarpanah (190-87, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 16 points. Mohammad Khoramshahi came up with 8 points and 14 rebounds and international Vahid Dalirzahan (199-95) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for Army in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Petrochimi have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Naft Abadan and Chemidor. Army lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Ayandeh Sazan. Petrochimi will play against Samen (#7) in Mash'had in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Army will play on the road against Shah.Tabriz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
