Regular Season Round 8: Tsmoki II - BGEU-RCOR 76-68

Rather predictable result in Minsk where fourth ranked Tsmoki II (4-3) defeated 6th ranked BGEU-RCOR (2-5) 76-68. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-12. But BGEU-RCOR won second period 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tsmoki II dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to BGEU-RCOR's 42. They outrebounded BGEU-RCOR 49-29 including 18 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by swingman Mikita Stasilevich (195-96) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and forward Maksim Lyutych (200-97) supported him with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Four Tsmoki II players scored in double figures. Even 23 points and 7 rebounds by forward Ilyas Salsanov (198-89, college: Faulkner) did not help to save the game for BGEU-RCOR. International guard Siarhei Vabishchevich (192-88) added 20 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the guests. Tsmoki II moved-up to third place, which they share with Vitebsk and Impuls BGUIR. BGEU-RCOR lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with five games lost. Tsmoki II will play against bottom-ranked GOCOR-Sozh (#8) in Gomel in the next round where they are favorite. BGEU-RCOR will play on the road against the league's leader Grodno-93 and hopes to get back on the winning track.
