There was a minor upset when higher ranked Cambados (3-6) lost at home to thirteenth ranked El Olivar (3-6) 80-75 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 20-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American guard Tyler Gaffaney (193-92, college: Claremont-Mudd) who led his team to a victory with 27 points. Marc Marti (204-97) contributed with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Gaffaney is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four El Olivar players scored in double figures. Cape Verdean-Portuguese forward Joel Almeida (195-85, college: Brockport St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and Austrian forward Maximilian Hopfgartner (206-92, college: John Brown) added 9 points in the effort for Cambados. El Olivar moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Cambados. El Olivar will face Blancos de Rueda (#13) in Valladolid in the next round.
