Regular Season Round 19: Kyoto Hannar. - Fukuoka Rizing 82-66

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Kyoto Hannar. (11-3) won against at home 8th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (6-11) 82-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kyoto Hannar.. Fukuoka Rizing was better in third quarter 29-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kyoto Hannar. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Fukuoka Rizing's 42. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kyoto Hannar. made 7 blocks. American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) fired 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. His fellow American import forward Larry Owens (201-83, college: ORU, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Kyoto Hannar.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida) produced 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Taishiro Shimizu (183-81) added 5 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Kyoto Hannar.. They maintain second place with 11-3 record having 3 victories less than leader Sendai 89ers. Loser Fukuoka Rizing keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will face again Fukuoka Rizing (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
