Not a big story in a game in Verona where 10th ranked Carugate (2-6) was defeated by eighth ranked Alpo VR (4-3) 55-50 on Saturday. Carugate trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 17-7 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 50-55 at the end of the game. Alpo VR forced 21 Carugate turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Anna Rossi (170-85) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and swingman Susanna Toffali (170-98) who added 9 points during the contest. Power forward Marta Scarsi (182-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the former international forward Manuela Zanon (187-80) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Alpo VR moved-up to seventh place in A2. Loser Carugate dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Alpo VR will face league's second-placed Milano on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Carugate will play against the league's second-placed Milano (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
