Regular Season Round 10: Grupo Inec Z. - Gijon 90-59

Very predictable result in Zamora where sixth ranked Grupo Inec Z. (3-2) smashed bottom-ranked Gijon (0-4) 90-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Grupo Inec Z.. Gijon was better in third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Grupo Inec Z. forced 22 Gijon turnovers and outrebounded them 45-30 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard Lucas Vaquero (185-89) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and center Christopher Iza (206-95) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Grupo Inec Z.'s coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side center Armando Alvarez (199-76) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Jorge Escapa (198-92) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Grupo Inec Z. moved-up to fourth place in Group A-B, which they share with Chantada and Vigren. Newly promoted Gijon still closes the standings with four games lost. Grupo Inec Z. will face Rosalia (#10) in Santiago de Camp. in the next round where they are favorite. Gijon will play at home against the league's second-placed Agustinos-Eras and hopes to get finally their first victory.
