Regular Season Round 8: Viareggio - Brindisi 56-37

Viareggio has finally registered their first victory this season after seven consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Brindisi (0-7) 56-37. The game was mostly controlled by Viareggio. Brindisi was better in third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Brindisi to just 4 points in second quarter and to 13 points in first half. Guard Federica Iannucci (175-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 6 steals. Guard Roberta Sinagra (174-83) contributed with 9 points for the winners. The former international swingman Valentina Siccardi (182-82) replied with 6 points and guard Lorena Toscano (168-92) added 6 points in the effort for Brindisi. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Viareggio (1-7) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place in A2. Brindisi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with seven games lost. Viareggio's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ancona (#11) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Brindisi will play against Palermo and hopes to get finally their first victory.
