No shocking result in a game when second ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (5-1) beat on the road 16th ranked Charleville-Mezieres (1-5) 89-79 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by SO Maritime Boulogne. Charleville-Mezieres was better in second period 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Charleville-Mezieres outrebounded SO Maritime Boulogne 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American point guard Garrett Sim (185-90, college: Oregon) who led his team to a victory with 24 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international center Ferdinand Prenom (203-91) contributed with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four SO Maritime Boulogne players scored in double figures. American-British point guard Akeem Williams (178-91, college: Mass.-Lowell, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) replied with 21 points and Anthony Racine (190-94) added 15 points in the effort for Charleville-Mezieres. Charleville-Mezieres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. SO Maritime Boulogne keeps a position of league leader. Charleville-Mezieres lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventeenth place with five games lost. SO Maritime Boulogne will face Le Portel (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Charleville-Mezieres will play against the league's second-placed JL Bourg (#2) and hope to win that game.
