Regular Season Round 7: Mgzavrebi - MIA Academy 77-68

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Mgzavrebi (#8) and MIA (#7). Mgzavrebi (3-4) won against visiting MIA (0-7) 77-68. They outrebounded MIA 48-36 including 16 on the offensive glass. Mgzavrebi looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Kaheem Ransom (185, college: Sam Houston St.) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Kakhaber Jintcharadze (195-93) contributed with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Mgzavrebi players scored in double figures. Belarusian center Vladzimir Krysevich (209-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 18 rebounds and American power forward Maurice Lewis-Briggs (203-90, college: Slippery Rock) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for MIA. MIA's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mgzavrebi moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Dinamo Tbilisi and Rustavi. Defending champion MIA still closes the standings with seven games lost. Mgzavrebi is looking forward to face league's second-placed Kutaisi on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MIA's supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Olimpi.
