There was a surprise result in Stabia where ninth ranked Castellammare (4-3) defeated higher ranked Irpino (4-4) 68-51 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 68-51. Castellammare forced 22 Irpino turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Castellammare especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Maria Gallo (168-92) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and guard Deborah D'Avolio (172-93) who added 10 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals during the contest. point guard Rosa Cupido (173-92) responded with 15 points and 8 steals and forward Eleonora Zanetti (180-94) scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. Castellammare moved-up to fifth place in A2. Loser Irpino dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Castellammare will face Civitanova (#10) in Civitanova Marche in the next round where they are favorite. Irpino will play at home against Salerno and hope to win that game.
