Regular Season Round 9: KK Split - Gorica 86-61

Another exciting game was between seventh ranked KK Split and 4th placed Gorica where host KK Split (4-4) rolled over Gorica (5-3) with 25-point difference 86-61. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gorica. It looked good early as Gorica took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then KK Split had a 21-13 second period charge getting the lead and Gorica was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-86. They outrebounded Gorica 34-16 including a 22-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. KK Split shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Gorica was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Henrik Sirko (201-93, agency: XL Basketball Agency) who led his team to a victory with 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Center Ante Djugum (211-88, agency: Court Side) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Forward Marin Zrnic (201-88, agency: PEPI SPORT) answered with 17 points and Bruno Skokna (190-97) added 14 points in the effort for Gorica. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. KK Split moved-up to sixth place. Gorica at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Alkar Sinj. KK Split will play against league's leader KK Zagreb at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gorica will play against Alkar Sinj and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
