Regular Season Round 10: Coruna - Cocinas.com 95-83

There was a small surprise in Coruna where fourteenth ranked Leyma Basquet (3-7) defeated 12th ranked Cocinas.com (3-7) 95-83 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Leyma Basquet. Cocinas.com was better in third quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leyma Basquet dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Cocinas.com's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Georgian Beka Burjanadze (202-94) scored 31 points and 7 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Zach Monaghan (188-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) chipped in 15 points and 8 assists during the contest. Leyma Basquet's coach Tito Diaz used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side American power forward Mike Carlson (206-91, college: Truman St.) responded with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and swingman Carles Bravo (193-79) scored 18 points and 4 assists. Four Cocinas.com players scored in double figures. Leyma Basquet moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Cocinas.com. Cocinas.com lost third consecutive game. Leyma Basquet will face higher ranked Oviedo CB (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
