Bottom-ranked Azkoitia (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 67-45 loss to second ranked Argon Uni Girona (9-1) in Girona. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game without a history. Argon Uni Girona led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Argon Uni Girona outrebounded Azkoitia 43-23 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian power forward Lina Pikciute (192-90, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Mali-French center Naignouma Coulibaly (191-89, agency: Regeneracom Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Serbian swingman Marina Markovic (185-91) replied with 20 points and 9 rebounds and Russian power forward Mariya Davydova (190-93, college: FIU) added 6 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Azkoitia. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Argon Uni Girona have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Avenida. Newly promoted Azkoitia still closes the standings with ten games lost. Argon Uni Girona will play against Gran Canaria (#13) in Las Palmas in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Azkoitia will play at home against Conquero and hopes to get finally their first victory.
