Regular Season Round 20: Shiga L-Stars - Hiroshima L. 125-58

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Hiroshima L. (1-14) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Shiga L-Stars (11-5) 125-58 on Sunday. The game without a history. Shiga L-Stars led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Hiroshima L.'s 22 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Shiga L-Stars forced 20 Hiroshima L. turnovers and outrebounded them 51-26 including a 38-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shiga L-Stars looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Hiroshima L.'s players. The best player for the winners was Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Shuto Mizoguchi (187-87) chipped in 23 points. Five Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Shiga L-Stars' coach Tohyama Kohto felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Adam Herman (199-91, college: Concordia, OR) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and Daichi Tomioka added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Shiga L-Stars have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Hiroshima L. lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face Tokyo Cinq R. (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hiroshima L. will play against the league's leader Sendai 89ers and hope to win that game.
