Regular Season Round 8: Angers - Lyon 67-74

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Lyon and 11th ranked Angers had identical 2-4 record. But Angers was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Lyon 74-67 on Sunday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-12. But Angers won second period 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American center Latoya Williams (192-87, college: Chipola JC) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. The former international center Christelle Diallo (192-93) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. American-Lithuanian forward Sofija Aleksandravicius (196-91, college: Davidson, agency: LBM Management) replied with 16 points and 9 rebounds and international point guard Romane Bernies (170-93, agency: Comsport) added 7 points and 7 assists in the effort for Angers. Angers' coach David Girandiere tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Lyon (3-4) moved-up to eighth place. Loser Angers dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Lyon will face COB Calais (#13) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Angers will play against Basket Landes (#4) and hope to win that game.
