Regular Season Round 9: Brunell - DCU Mercy 69-82

Leader DCU Mercy delivered the seventh victory on Sunday night. This time they beat 7th ranked Brunell (2-6) 82-69 in Cork. They outrebounded Brunell 37-22 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. DCU Mercy looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international guard Sarah Woods (174-88) stepped up and scored 27 points and 8 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and American forward Chelisa Painter (185, college: ODU) chipped in 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Four DCU Mercy players scored in double figures. DCU Mercy's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Canadian forward Kaylee Kilpatrick (193-93, college: New Hampshire) with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks and power forward Amy Waters scored 24 points and 4 assists. DCU Mercy maintains first place with 7-1 record. Brunell lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with P.Panthers. DCU Mercy will meet at home P.Panthers (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brunell will play against Meteors in Dublin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
