Regular Season Round 10: Pyrinto II - HoNsU Basket 99-107

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Pyrinto II (3-7) lost to fourth ranked HoNsU Basket (5-5) in Tampere 99-107 on Sunday. Pyrinto II was trailing by 13 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 37-26 charge of HoNsU Basket, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 Pyrinto II turnovers. Pyrinto II was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American point guard Glenn Stokes (170-76, college: American) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 assists. Forward Samuli Oja (194-93) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Guard Justus Kilpinen (192-93) replied with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Byron Burnett (206-82, college: FIU) added 12 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Pyrinto II. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. HoNsU Basket maintains fourth position in Division with 5-5 record. Loser Pyrinto II keeps the seventh place with seven games lost. HoNsU Basket will face league's second-placed Forssan Koripojat at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Pyrinto II will play against the league's leader UU-Korihait (#1) in Uusikaupunki and hope to win that game.
