Regular Season Round 7: Aris Petropolis - Niki Lefkadas 68-87

Bottom-ranked Aris Petropolis (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 87-68 loss to third ranked Niki Lefkadas (5-2) in on Sunday evening. They made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Janae Smith (188-92, college: UAB) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Ariya Crook-Williams (170-93, college: USC) helped adding 19 points and 4 assists. At the losing side guard Natali Plumbi (169-81) responded with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and point guard Anastasia Tserou (166-95) scored 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Niki Lefkadas maintains third place with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader Olympiacos Pireus. Aris Petropolis lost their seventh game in a row. Aris Petropolis at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with seven games lost. Niki Lefkadas will meet at home league's second-placed Panathinaikos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aris Petropolis will play against Proteas (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
