Regular Season Round 10: PuHu Juniorit - Korikouvot 83-98

There was an upset when higher ranked PuHu Juniorit (6-4) lost to eleventh ranked Korikouvot (3-6) in Vantaa 83-98 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Korikouvot. PuHu Juniorit was better in fourth quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Korikouvot looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for guard Valtteri Leino (181-95) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!). American forward Miikka Luosmaa (204-94, college: Regis Univ.) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Oscar Lindqvist (188-90) replied with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Sakari Salminen (200-87) added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for PuHu Juniorit. Five Korikouvot and four PuHu Juniorit players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Korikouvot moved-up to tenth place in Division. Loser PuHu Juniorit keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Korikouvot will face higher ranked Namika Lr (#5) in Lappeenranta in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
