Not a big story in a game in Ishikawa where 7th ranked Kanazawa Samuraiz (9-9) was defeated by fourth ranked Okinawa GK (11-4) 69-56 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Okinawa GK. Kanazawa Samuraiz was better in second period 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. The other American import power forward Evan Ravenel (203-89, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Okinawa GK's coach Tsutomu Isa used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and guard Yuji Yuji (181-88) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Okinawa GK maintains fourth position with 11-4 record. Kanazawa Samuraiz lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with nine games lost. Okinawa GK will face higher ranked Akita Happinets (#3) at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Kanazawa Samuraiz will play against Niigata Albirex (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
