Regular Season Round 8: SEQ - Perth 64-85

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Crestmead. Second ranked Perth Lynx faced 4th ranked SEQ. Guests from Perth (8-3) smashed host SEQ (6-5) 85-64. It looked good early as SEQ took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Perth Lynx had a 21-9 second period charge getting the lead and SEQ was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-85. They outrebounded SEQ 43-27 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized British forward Louella Tomlinson (193-88, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: Regeneracom Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Betnijah Laney (183-93, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Nigerian-American Ify Ibekwe (187-89, college: Arizona, agency: LBM Management) replied with 17 points and 6 rebounds and guard Amy Lewis (175-86, college: Troy) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for SEQ. Five Perth Lynx and four SEQ players scored in double figures. Perth Lynx keeps a position of league leader. SEQ lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. Perth Lynx will play against Boomers (#7) in Melbourne in the next round where they are favorite. SEQ will play at home against Bendigo Spirit and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
