Regular Season Round 9: Caballos - Panteras 71-73

The most exciting game of round 9 in the LPB took place in Aguadulce. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-best Caballos (5-4) to fifth ranked Panteras (4-5) 73-71 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 30-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Caballos outrebounded Panteras 47-24 including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. 29 personal fouls committed by Caballos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for international point guard Chris Prescott (188-89, college: St.Peter's) who led his team to a victory with 30 points. Center Josimar Blenman (200-89, college: Globe Tech JC) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Joel Tesis (206-82, college: John Brown) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and international power forward Antonio Garcia (202-76, college: Ky Wesleyan) added 6 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Caballos. Caballos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Panteras maintains fifth place with 4-5 record. Caballos at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. They share it with Aguilas and Toros. Panteras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Panama City Halcones.
