Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Juvecaserta (3-6) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Umana Venezia (6-3) 65-58 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Juvecaserta won fourth quarter 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Umana Venezia forced 22 Juvecaserta turnovers. The best player for the winners was Croatian forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85) who scored 19 points. American power forward Josh Owens (203-88, college: Stanford) chipped in 14 points. Umana Venezia's coach Carlo Recalcati used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Daniele Cinciarini (194-83) who recorded 19 points and American-Guinean forward Robert Jones (201-84, college: Washington) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Umana Venezia moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams. Juvecaserta lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Umana Venezia will meet at home AV Cantu (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Juvecaserta will play against VL Pesaro and hope to secure a win.
