Regular Season Round 11: Foshan LL - Fujian QB 130-126 2OT

Twentieth ranked Foshan won a double-overtime thriller edging higher ranked Fujian by four points 130-126 on Sunday night. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime then Fujian managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Foshan who were better in double-overtime eventually winning that period 15-11. They made 42-of-47 free shots (89.4 percent) during the game, while Fujian only scored fifteen points from the stripe. They outrebounded Fujian 48-36 including 34 on the defensive glass. Fujian was plagued by 35 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Jerrelle Benimon (203-91, college: Towson) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Hongfei Shi (180-93) helped adding 27 points and 5 rebounds. Foshan's coach Dean Murray used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Lebanese swingman Fadi Khatib (199-79) responded with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and American point guard Dwight Buycks (191-89, college: Marquette) scored 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Five Foshan and four Fujian players scored in double figures. Foshan (1-10) left bottom position moving up to nineteenth place, which they share with TianJin S. It was Fujian's third loss in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. Foshan will face higher ranked Jilin Tigers (#18) in Changchun in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
