There was no surprise in Tenerife where 14th ranked CB Canarias (2-6) was defeated by twelfth ranked La Bruixa d'Or (4-4) 71-65 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 18-9. But CB Canarias won second period 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. La Bruixa d'Or made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. CB Canarias was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Serbian center Dejan Musli (213-91) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Guard Alexander Hernandez (189-90) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four La Bruixa d'Or players scored in double figures. Montenegrin center Blagota Sekulic (210-82) produced 15 points and 9 rebounds and Argentinian-Italian point guard Nicolas Richotti (183-86) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. La Bruixa d'Or moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Unicaja and Bilbao Basket. Loser CB Canarias dropped to the fifteenth position with six games lost. La Bruixa d'Or will face higher ranked Regal FC Barcelona (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. CB Canarias will play against the league's second-placed Laboral Kutxa (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
