Regular Season Round 11: Umea - Sundsvall 76-79

Tenth-ranked Umea (2-9) gave a tough game to second ranked Sundsvall Dragons (8-4) on Monday. The visitors from Sundsvall managed to secure only three-point victory 79-76. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 22-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Sundsvall Dragons made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Umea helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Charles Barton (193-92, college: Oregon St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points. Icelandic power forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82) helped adding 11 points and 14 rebounds. DR Congolese-Canadian forward Yannick Anzuluni (204-87, college: Houghton) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and American swingman Jason Davis (194-85, college: Sacramento St.) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Umea players scored in double figures. Sundsvall Dragons have a solid series of four victories in a row. Despite that victory Sundsvall Dragons went down to third position due to points difference. Umea at the other side dropped to the bottom place with nine games lost. They share the position with Eco Orebro. Sundsvall Dragons are looking forward to face Boras Basket (#4) on the road in the next round. Umea will play against Eco Orebro (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
