Regular Season Round 8: Elitzur Yavne - Hapoel G/A 101-94

Round 8 in National League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Yavne where host Elitzur Yavne (5-3) beat league's leader Hapoel Afula (7-1) 101-94 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Hapoel Afula. Elitzur Yavne looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American Chris Gaston (201-89, college: Fordham) who scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. Yaniv Solomon (-94) chipped in 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Elitzur Yavne's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Brandon Brown (199-85, college: CS San Bernar.) produced 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and Puerto Rican forward Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: Sam Houston St., agency: Inception Sports) added 22 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Elitzur Yavne moved-up to fifth place. Hapoel Afula at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Hapoel B/S who have the same record. Hapoel Afula will play next round against Hasharon trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Elitzur Yavne will try to continue on its current victory against thirteenth ranked Hapoel Kazrin on the road.
