Regular Season Round 4: Al Ahli - Al Arabi 53-70

An interesting game was played in Doha where Al Arabi (#8) beat host Al Ahli (#7) with 17-point difference 70-53 on Tuesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Al Arabi. Al Ahli managed to win second period 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Al Ahli 43-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Todd O'Brien (211-89, college: UAB) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 21 rebounds and the other American import point guard Temi Soyebo (183-84, college: NC-Wilmington) who added 29 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Soyebo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American-Togolese guard Jimmy Williams (196-86, college: Alders.-Broad.) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds and Ndoye Elhadj scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. Al Arabi (1-2) left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with Al Shamal. It was Al Ahli's third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Qatar and Al Wakrah. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Rayyan.
