Regular Season Round 8: Elitzur Ashkelon - Hapoel K/S 86-102

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Hapoel Kfar Saba (3-5) defeated on the road higher ranked Ironi Ashkelon (3-5) 102-86 on Tuesday. Hapoel Kfar Saba dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Ironi Ashkelon's 52. They outrebounded Ironi Ashkelon 39-24 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hapoel Kfar Saba looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was guard Vernon Teel (193-87, college: Loyola Mary) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Center DeAngelo Riley (206-88, college: Azusa Pacific) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Four Hapoel Kfar Saba players scored in double figures. Hapoel Kfar Saba's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Dominique Keller (205-88, college: Illinois) produced 28 points and power forward Germain Jordan (198-86, college: Dillard) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Hapoel Kfar Saba moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Ironi Ashkelon. Hapoel Kfar Saba will face higher ranked Galil Gilboa (#4) in Rosh Pina in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
