Second Stage Round 5: Henan - Jiangsu 70-77

The game between Top Four teams took place in Jiyuan. 4th placed host Henan (1-4) lost to third ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (3-2) 77-70. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Henan won third quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jiangsu Phoenix forced 19 Henan turnovers. The best player for the winners was international point guard Xiaojia Chen (177-88) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Center Hee Sun (185-95) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Four Jiangsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. American forward Tianna Hawkins (191-91, college: Maryland) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and forward Jie Sun (187-91) added 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Jiangsu Phoenix maintains third place in Play Out with 3-2 record having just two points less than leader Bayi. Henan lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Heilongjiang and Shandong. Jiangsu Phoenix will meet Heilongjiang Chenneng (#4) in the next round. Henan will play against the league's second-placed Liaoning Hengye in Anshan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
