Regular Season Round 14: Kouvot - Helsinki Seagulls 62-68

An interesting game for Helsinki Seagulls (8-6) which played road game in Kouvola against top-ranked Kouvot (9-5). Third ranked Helsinki Seagulls managed to get a 6-point victory 68-62. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-12. But Kouvot won third quarter 19-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard James Sinclair (190-93, college: W.Carolina, agency: Two Points) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 5 rebounds. The former international point guard Antto Nikkarinen (185-91, agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Helsinki Seagulls' coach Mikko Larkas used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international Ville Kaunisto (205-82, agency: Court Side) replied with 13 points and 8 rebounds and international point guard Tuomas Hirvonen (180-96) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Kouvot. Despite that victory Helsinki Seagulls went down to fourth position due to points difference. Kouvot lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the second place with five games lost. Helsinki Seagulls will face Salon Vilpas (#8) at home in the next round. Kouvot will play against BC Nokia (#9) and hope to win that game.
