Regular Season Round 12: North Control B. - Qingdao E. 120-123 OT

Qingdao Eagles (4-8) survived in overtime against North Control (4-8) by three points 123-120 on Wednesday night. The game took place in Beijing. But the guests from Qingdao were better at the end. North Control trailed by 15 points at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 38-19 last quarter charge cut the deficit to tie the game 104-104 at the end of regular time. But then they lost overtime period 16-19. Qingdao Eagles made 39-of-43 free shots (90.7 percent) during the game. Qingdao Eagles had a 36-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 54 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds (went 15 for 15 at the free throw line !!!) and the other American import center Alan Williams (203-93, college: UCSB) who added 24 points and 17 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Uruguayan-Spanish power forward Esteban Batista (208-83, agency: Duran International) with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and Iranian point guard Mahdi Kamrani (181-82) scored 30 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Qingdao Eagles moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Bayi R. and North Control B. North Control lost fourth consecutive game. Qingdao Eagles will meet higher ranked Fujian (#13) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. North Control will play against TianJin Steel and hope to secure a win.
