Regular Season Round 9: Honka - PeKa 78-70

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Peli-Karhut (1-8) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Tapiolan Honka (6-4) 78-70. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Peli-Karhut won fourth quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. International swingman Heta Korpivaara (185-84, college: Seton Hall, agency: Regeneracom Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and international forward Dionne Pounds (174-84, college: Lamar, agency: Regeneracom Sports) accounted for 16 points. Tapiolan Honka's coach Kimmo Kujansivu allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Amber Battle (175-93, college: Texas Tech, agency: Merit Management Group) came up with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Dominique Mosley (182, college: Missouri So.) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Peli-Karhut in the defeat. Tapiolan Honka moved-up to third place. Peli-Karhut lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Tapiolan Honka's next round opponent will be HyPo (#4) in Hyvinkaa. Peli-Karhut will play at home against the league's leader Catz Lappeenranta (#1) and hope to win that game.
