Regular Season Round 11: Jugla - Livani 77-95

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Jugla's (2-8) home loss to seventh ranked Livani (4-6) in Riga 77-95 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Livani. Jugla was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Livani shot 23 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Jugla only scored seven points from the stripe. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Jugla was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Eduards Kikuts (193-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 41 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Nauris Maskalans (198-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Livani players scored in double figures. Guard Kristians Viksne (191-97) answered with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Raivis Scerbinskis (202-97) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Jugla. Jugla's coach Ziedonis Jansons let to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Livani moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Buki/BJSS and BS Ogre. Loser Jugla keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Livani will have a break next round. Jugla will play on the road against the league's second-placed Saldus (#2) and hope to win that game.
