Rather expected game when 8th ranked BrGU COR Victoria (2-8) was smashed by sixth ranked Gorizont II (3-5) in Minsk 72-38 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Gorizont II led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding BrGU COR Victoria to just 5 points in second quarter and to 14 points in first half. Gorizont II held BrGU COR Victoria to an opponent 22.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Gorizont II forced 23 BrGU COR Victoria turnovers and outrebounded them 51-35 including a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for guard Volha Gromik (180-93) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 23 rebounds. Forward Daria Panasyuk (176-96) contributed with 18 points and 6 steals for the winners. Four Gorizont II players scored in double figures. Maryia Rashchenia (185-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and guard Valiansina Sivaplias (170-92) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for BrGU COR Victoria. Gorizont II maintains sixth place with 3-5 record. Loser BrGU COR Victoria keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Gorizont II will face bottom-ranked Kameya (#9) in Smolensk in the next round. BrGU COR Victoria will play at home against Sozh-GGU and hope to win that game.
