No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Pinheiros (5-2) beat 15th ranked Liga Sorocaba (2-4) in Sao Paolo 73-59 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Pinheiros. Liga Sorocaba was better in third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 24 points. Forward Lucas Dias Silva (209-95) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Pinheiros' coach Cesar Guidetti used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Gaucho Zilmer (197-86) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds and guard Arlindo Neto (187-86) added 14 points in the effort for Liga Sorocaba. The victory was the third consecutive win for Pinheiros. They moved-up to second place. Loser Liga Sorocaba keeps the fifteenth position with four games lost. Pinheiros' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paolo Paulistano.
