Regular Season Round 21: Hiroshima L. - Sendai 89ers 82-107

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Hiroshima L. (1-16) was outleveled at home by first ranked Sendai 89ers (15-5) 107-82 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 107-82. Sendai 89ers outrebounded Hiroshima L. 57-31 including a 41-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Hiroshima L.'s players. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Power forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers' coach Shuto Kawachi felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and forward Adam Herman (199-91, college: Concordia, OR) added 26 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Hiroshima L.The victory was the third consecutive win for Sendai 89ers. They maintain first place with 15-5 record. Hiroshima L. lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
