Regular Season Round 13: Jiangsu TX - Guangdong ST 98-122

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Guandong Tigers (11-2) outplayed on the road 11th ranked Jiangsu TX (5-8) 122-98 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Guandong Tigers. Jiangsu TX was better in second period 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guandong Tigers made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Guandong Tigers had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 57.7 percentage. Guandong Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Quite impressive performance for Nigerian-American power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. The former international Jianlian Yi (212-87) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) added 32 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Jiangsu TX. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guandong Tigers have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-2 record behind leader Xinjiang FT, which they share with Guangsha L. Jiangsu TX lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with eight games lost. Guandong Tigers will face Bayi Rockets (#16) in Ningbo in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Jiangsu TX will play at home against Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank and hope to win that game.
