Regular Season Round 21: Hiroshima L. - Sendai 89ers 91-106

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Hiroshima L. (1-16) lost at home to first ranked Sendai 89ers (15-5) 106-91 on Friday. The game without a history. Sendai 89ers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Hiroshima L.'s 42. They outrebounded Hiroshima L. 54-26 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Sendai 89ers' coach Shuto Kawachi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Adam Herman (199-91, college: Concordia, OR) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) added 28 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Hiroshima L.Five Sendai 89ers and four Hiroshima L. players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sendai 89ers. They maintain first place with 15-5 record. Hiroshima L. lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
