Regular Season Round 7: St Chamond - Roanne 83-76

There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Saint Chamond (3-3) beat at home 11th ranked Chorale de Roanne (3-4) 83-76 on Friday. Chorale de Roanne trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 26-17 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 76-83 at the end of the game. Strangely Chorale de Roanne outrebounded Saint Chamond 49-31 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Dustin Salisbery (193-84, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 7 assists. Cuban power forward Grismay Paumier (203-88) helped adding 9 points and 9 rebounds. Saint Chamond's coach Alain Thinet used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Cape Verdean-Portuguese Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) responded with 25 points and 4 assists and Sadio Doucoure (200-92) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Saint Chamond moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Souffel. Loser Chorale de Roanne dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Saint Chamond will face Orchesien BC (#15) in Orchies in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chorale de Roanne will play at home against Saint-Quentin (#18) and hope to win that game.
