Regular Season Round 16: Gigantes - Indios 98-74
Date: December 5, 2015
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Ciudad's (5-11) road loss to eighth ranked Gigantes (6-8) in Toluca 74-98 on Saturday. The game without a history. Gigantes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Ciudad's 30. They outrebounded Ciudad 53-37 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gigantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gigantes made 7 blocks. The winners were led by American swingman Tim Pickett (192-81, college: Florida St., agency: Interperformances) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and international forward Edgar Garibay (208-90, college: Long Beach St.) supported him with 15 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Tiras Wade (200-81, college: La-Lafayette) did not help to save the game for Ciudad. Forward Santiago Garay (196-92) added 15 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Five Gigantes and four Ciudad players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gigantes have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Correcaminos and Abejas. Newly promoted Ciudad keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. Gigantes will meet at home Correcaminos (#7) in the next round. Ciudad will play against Halcones Rojos and hope to secure a win.
