Regular Season Round 17: Tinguiririca S.F. - Las Animas 71-74

The biggest surprise of round 17 was guest Las Animas' (9-7) road victory over Tinguiririca S.F. (#5) 74-71 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Tinguiririca S.F.. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tinguiririca S.F. won third quarter 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Terrance Thomas (198-80, college: Baylor, agency: Interperformances) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Four Las Animas players scored in double figures. American forward Keith Gayden (202-83, college: Duquesne) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and the former international point guard Franco Morales (179-92) added 21 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Las Animas moved-up to second place, which they share with Los Leones. Tinguiririca S.F. at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with CD Valdivia and AB Ancud. Las Animas is looking forward to face Espanol de Talca (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tinguiririca S.F. will play against the league's leader Universidad de Concepcion (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
